The Importance of Community Response in Catalyzing Social Change
Tori Utley is an entrepreneur working jointly in technology innovation and addiction recovery, holding an MBA and status as a licensed alcohol and drug counselor (LADC) in Minnesota. She currently works at Mayo Clinic in the Center for Connected Care as a Product Manager working on mobile technologies for medical professionals. Additionally, she is working with the Department of Psychiatry and Psychology on a mobile prototype for mood-monitoring and mental health, which was a recipient of the Connect Design Enable (CoDE) grant with the Center for Innovation.
Utley is the founder of More Than An Addict, a non-profit organization seeking to empower individuals in recovery from addiction through the financial support of education, employment, and entrepreneurship. She is also the founder of an innovative model to addiction treatment that will be the first of its kind in Minnesota and throughout the nation, slated to open early 2017. Additionally, she founded a tech startup company, Tinua, which is developing novel digital technologies to re-allocate gift card breakage towards social causes.
Utley was invited to speak at TEDxZumbroRiver in May 2016, was named one of the 35 under 35 by the Minnesota Business Magazine in August 2016, and is a member of the Forbes Under 30 community. She is a regular contributor with Forbes, writing on mental health and entrepreneurship.
