Susan McHugh is a legal \specialist who works for the in-house Legal Department at Mayo Clinic. Susan worked in the public sector for the Olmsted County Attorney’s Office, specializing in health law and other civil proceedings. She transitioned to the Legal Department at the Mayo Clinic in May 2014, due to her strong belief in Mayo Clinic’s values and mission which are geared at providing high-quality patient care.
Susan now specializes in providing legal services related to health law topics including but not limited to FDA drug and device regulations, cybersecurity, and both internal and external investigations. She is currently working with the AI Governance group at Mayo Clinic as a legal representative for upcoming AI technologies. She assists with providing guidance on the processes needed to achieve the goal of bringing these technologies to the clinical practice and ultimately benefiting patients. Susan received her B.S. from Winona State University and is currently working toward attaining her master’s degree in Healthcare and Human Services Administration.
