Robert Nesse, M.D.

Senior Director for Payment Reform, Mayo Clinic

Dr. Nesse joined the staff of Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota in 1980. In September 2015 Dr. Nesse became the Senior Director for Payment Reform and currently serves in this role. Dr. Nesse served as the CEO of Mayo Clinic Health System- Franciscan in Wisconsin from 2004-2010 and the Mayo Clinic Health System in the Midwest from 2010-2015.  He also served as a member of the Mayo Clinic Board of Governors and Board of Trustees from 2005-2013.  Prior to this time, he was a member of the Mayo Clinic Rochester Board of Governors and served as Vice Chairman of the Board from 1999-2004.    

Professional highlights include:

  • Elected to the 2006 Board of Directors of the American Medical Group Association
  • Vice Chair of the Mayo Clinic Department of Family Medicine from 1990-1996
  • M.D. from Wayne State University School of Human Medicine
