Piper Nieters Su is an accomplished health care attorney and policy strategist focusing on federal health care programs. With more than 15 years of experience in coverage, reimbursement and care delivery, Piper assists clients in developing and implementing regulatory and market strategies related to Medicare, Medicaid and private sector programs.
Previously, Piper led the health policy division for The Advisory Board Company, a leading best practices research firm, offering an on-the-ground perspective on how providers and other stakeholders relate to key policy and market trends. She also has worked as a senior lawyer and consultant at large law firms, assisting providers, insurers, states, and drug and device manufacturers with formal legal advice as well as legislative and regulatory strategies for Congress, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
In addition to her work in the private sector, she also served as legislative counsel to U.S. Senator Ken Salazar. As his principal advisor for health-care-related activities on the Senate Finance Committee, she crafted numerous policy proposals that were subsequently enacted into law through the Medicare, Medicaid and SCHIP Extension Act of 2007; the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008; and the Affordable Care Act of 2010.
