David is co-founder and President of Patients For Affordable Drugs, the only national patient group focused exclusively on policies to lower drug prices. David was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, an incurable blood cancer, in 2010. Because myeloma finds its way around drugs, David is a strong supporter of innovation and new drugs to extend his life and the lives of other patients. He believes life-saving drugs should not come at prices that patients cannot afford.
David spent 40 years working on health care and public health policy as a communications specialist. He helped build and run GMMB—a cause-oriented, public policy communications firm in Washington, DC. He worked to reduce teen smoking, increase use of seat belts, fight drunk driving, and improve child health and safety. He retired in 2016 to focus his full energy and attention on helping bring about policy change to lower drug costs.
