Anna Young

Co-Founder, MakerNurse

Anna Young is the co-founder of MakerNurse, a nationwide initiative connecting creative nurses with tools and resources to make solutions for better bedside care. Anna is also a lecturer at the Little Devices Lab at MIT within the Institute for Medical Engineering and Science.

Her research at MIT focuses on tools and design strategies to improve access to health technologies through making. Anna has taught field-based prototyping courses and workshops to health care professionals in Latin America, Southeast Asia, Africa, Europe and the United States. She is a co-instructor for MIT’s health tech prototyping and design course, HST Maker Lab. Her Solarclave project was recognized by the World Health Organization as one of the top 10 innovations in health care in 2011 and has been trialed in Nicaragua and Nigeria.

Her expertise is in digital fabrication and design, building networks of health technology innovators and designing clinical studies to move prototypes from the lab into practice.
